An Architectural & Cultural History Of Willistown Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, From First Settlement Through 1900

Compiled by John Charles Nagy & Penny Teaf Goulding

Acres of Quakers, a history of Willistown Township written and compiled by John Nagy and Penny Goulding and underwritten by the township, will be available in early October.  (The book was released for printing in mid-August.)  Commemorating the township's 300th anniversary, the book contains over 700 pages devoted to the history, architecture, culture, transportation, and genealogy of Willistown.  The authors left no resource untapped, drawing upon deeds, wills, estate inventories, tax records, maps, surveys, account books, newspaper articles, and personal journals of the day.  Included are more than 500 historic and contemporary photographs, both black & white and color.  All buildings indicated on the Breou Farm Atlas of 1883 (some no longer standing) are included in this volume.  This handsome hardcover book has been designed for scholars, local history buffs, genealogists, and readers of casual interest.

For further information, call the township at (610) 647-5300 or stop by the main desk in the lobby of the Willistown Township building.

The Acres of Quakers book party will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2006.
